It looks like an engine cover that was originally planned by Ford to be included with the 05 Ford Mustang GT is now available. Would it be ok to install this? I really like the way it looks. I have read that engine covers trap heat from the intake manifold raising the intake air temp. Which isn't good they say. If so, why would Ford plan to originally include the cover and only decided not to to cut costs?

It is made of plastic.

The parts page states:
All parts on this page are genuine 2005-2007 Ford Mustang Accessories. These are manufactured by Ford, for Ford, we do not sell cheap aftermarket knock-off's or imitation parts.

Honda uses engine covers for years with no harm at all.

Just buy one, we love ours on our 07.

Seen them for like $70 shiped or so I think.

I put one of the Ford intake covers on my car. It is made of plastic and has not gotten hot enough to become mishapen at all so I think the heat issue with the intake would not be enough to hurt performance. For '07, it is part of the GT Appearance Package. I don't believe Ford would put it on there if they thought it would cause problems.

Got mine from MidWest technologies. It's great. I have a supercharger and believe me, if heat was an issue, I'd know about it. Holden and other manufacturers put huge covers over their V8s. Next to your manifolds, it is inconsequential.

I can open without a problem. Come to find out it doesn't include the bolts/nuts, but still lowest price on this side of Earth.

I tried digging around on the www.Fordparts.com web site and couldn't find the part. Does anyone have a Ford part # for the cover?

i just did a search on their site with the part #'s. I was able to order to order the studs & bolts online though. Those part #'s above are exactly correct.

BTW, I just looked at my receipt and I was incorrect about my amount paid... the cover, nuts, & studs were $64.80 shipped.

Installing it

Mine is on its way, but when it arrives it is easy to install? If I unscrew the original studs lining up with the cover will something shoot out and knock my eye ball out? Our just unscrew, place cover down and bolt down with new studs and nuts?
