I'm sorry Bob, but that is funny. I understand completely where you are coming from though. These trolls are bumming my Christmas spirit.

Im acting like a troll because I am referencing actual sites and using actual data...and refusing to accept that a car with 255 rwhp will somehow magically beat a car that averages 50hp more? Im sorry...but you can never make me believe that.
The f-bodys have been documented to put down more than the corvette of compareable year...which is rated at 350 horsepower...which is probably due to the vetts IRS...but take that away and the f-body is producing the same numbers...its is very underrated.

Sorry if I got a little out of hand...I like the new GT and I think it has potential..and I really like the retro look...GM will probably copy ford and do the same thing if they bring back the camaro...I hope.

Just give the ls1 some credit...according to you guys the only newer mustang that it can beat is probably the 99-04 gt's

Stating facts and data usually do not constitute being a "Troll". By posting both facts and data, you are actuall contributing to this forum.

We all take our hobby very seriously (well most of us) and sometimes get out of hand.

We all have to remember one simple fact. If it were not for the performance enthusiast (GM/Ford/Import/ETC) we would all be driving underpowered 3 cylinder cars that get good mileage.

Performance enthusiasts should always stick together no matter what they drive. Mustang enthusiasts have already proven that this works. When we all saw that the Mustang was going to be replaced by the Probe, we all stuck together and rallied Ford to NOT get rid of the classic Mustang formula. Now we are all here a decade later with a new Mustang to talk about.

If we do not stick together, someday we might all be talking about who gets better fuel economy out of our 64 HP 3 banger instead of who has more power.

Nice that you qouted the rpm for the base model 98 non ram air model....we are talking about the 01-02 ws6 345 horse option....which is 5600...so your wrong again....but your just picking on little thing and tryoing to avoid the truth.
What truth is that? That you are ignorant to the possibility that i beat LS1's with my Cobra? Maybe your talking about the WS6 but if you read closely you'd see what i said:
I've even beaten LS1's stock to stock. (most of them WERE NOT WS6's though.)
Do you read? Or were you so MAD and ticked OFF to see some guy saying he beat a GM car with his COBRA that you skipped right over the part where i said most were not "WS6's". hmm? Reason i said most is because there were a couple times where it was dark and i couldnt tell if it was a WS6 or not, but i didnt think it was since i beat them. I know what a WS6 has in it!
So whats the big deal? I beat about 5 stock LS1's with my stock 98 Cobra and i gotta GM guy freaking out at me about it calling me an idiot and trying to talk smack to me because of it. Doesnt surprise me though. Typical trashtalker.
I am sorry...but you are full of it
I can beat ls1's because I can shifter later? what the heck...why dont you learn something about cars before you start posting a bunch of crap

.

Back to topic: Dude maybe you dont want to buy the WS6 because you might become a trash talking fool like these guys are. Oh and by the way, you can find 03 Cobras with under 10,000 miles on them for around $25,000 if you look for them.

If we do not stick together, someday we might all be talking about who gets better fuel economy out of our 64 HP 3 banger instead of who has more power.

Go to any camaro site (dont be biased) and just ask about 01-02 dynoing 320 plus....you will find plenty of evidence.

Any race could technically be a drivers race...what I meant by that was that they are almost equal in performance....and from the numbers..it does not look like they are close enough to warrant this a "drivers race"

A 96-98 cobra has MORE power than a new GT why would it be even closer?

Oh and ls1's and 96-98 cobras make their peak power at a difference of 200 rpm....if you were shifting that much later then you were going to long.

And go ahead and check this out just to prove to you what an ls1 is capable of...http://www.airflowresearch.com/

Go to the LS1 dyno test. This is a NEAR STOCK ls1, the ls6 intake came standard on 01-02 ls1 cars. It is running a flowmaster muffler that produce almost no horsepower. It has long tube headers. So go ahead and take off 30 horsepower....this ls1 would produce around 400 horsepower...BONE STOCK Oh and a mere 530 with heads and cam.

They can dyno 320 to the wheels ALL DAY...PERIOD

ok used to be big on ls1's and never saw a 345 horse option first off and second off the 05 has been running 13.3 and 13.2 check these forums people here have been doing it so that is why I say it is closer there are more things that factor into accelereation other than power (i.e. weight, gearing, aerodynamics)

Did you actually read the first half of this thread or just a couple of "select" posts?

Most people in this thread have done nothing but give the LS! its proper respect and credit. But 1 guys says he beat one in a Cobra and you get all sideways on him???

So what if he beat a Camaro? At no point did he say they were garbage. I actually saw that he was choosing between his Cobra and an LS1. So why all the drama about this guy beating an LS1?

If your ego is bruised by the fact that someone might be able to beat an LS1 with anything built by Ford, Might I suggest you go to a forum that is not geared towards Mustangs.

Why do people come to Mustang forums and get mad that we like Mustangs.

They are like children (Mustangs). Of course my child is perfect at everything and the smartest and best looking and if you don't agree with me you are a retarded ass hat. I am biased.

So go to the LS1 forums and talk about how retarded we are for thinking our children are perfect. Because I think you are retarded for not thinking my child is perfect.

I was very aware that you could have beaten an ls1 with your car...I dont doubt that....but it was becuase you were the better driver...and not that a 96-98 cobra is the faster car...it just isnt...thats what I have been talking about the whole time.

and what is with the post you just proved yourself guilty on "most of them were not ws6 cars" lol...what the heck is this...well it was dark...blah blah.

And if know a thing about ls1 cars you would not say something like..."I know what ws6 has in them"....the same exact thing every other ls1 car has....oh I forgot...ram air...HOLY COW...they are also about 100 pounds heavier than a base formula or z28.

I was not getting mad that a cobra or any ford would beat my car...I have given the 03-04 cobra props many times and CAN ADMIT defeat.
But I will not listen to some guys who says 50 more horsepower equals the slow car... THAT is what I was mad about....Its like im in the twilight zone her.

If you guys had documented dyno runs of a new ls1 with 255rwhp it would be on the the biggest link on the front of this fricken website....and if I said that it could beat a mustang averaging over 300rwhp...I WOULD BE TORCHED ALIVE...by every one of you mustang boys.

Enough already.

I have tried twice now to get this thread back on track. This is the only warning I will give and then the bannings begin.

The next person (and any one following) that adds gas to this fire will be banned.

Simple enough?

Oh and check your sources. The t/a had a 345 horse option.

Oh and go check exotic performance plus website. They usually see 260-280 rwhp on their hd1750 MUSTANG DYNO. So...they see an AVERAGE of around 310 rwhp on a dynojet.

Once again I say...it can dyno at over 320.

Even at 345 Flywheel horsepower to get 320 to the wheels you're assuming a 7.25 percent drivetrain loss..hmmm that must be one hell of a drivetrain...but your original statement was 328 rwhp which would be less than a 5 percent drivetrain loss..now that is just friggin amazing...even 310 rwhp is only a 10 percent loss I mean come on...!

You're right this debate is moot I should've realized that we were getting off track but I am a victim of not reading the whole thread before posting and this arguement is probably mostly my fault and for that guys I am sorry I must apologize and to end my part in it I will no longer be posting on this thread...sorry guys...

If an engine is run on the dyno with no accessories, that is what they used to do prior to ~1970 when ratings were "gross" HP. Today's "net" HP ratings are with all accessories on the car. That means if Chevy HiPo did this kind of test, it was not in line with how advertised HP is measured today.

Regardless, there is no reason a 01/02 LS1 shouldn't put down 300+ RWHP. Fortunately for me, dyno's don't go down the track, so it has never really been an issue.

the firebird firehawks had a 345h.p. rating, they had a better ram air and exhaust system than a ws6 t/a.

the latest test report i saw in car & driver stated that the new '05 only ran 13.7 or 13.8 in the 1/4 against a ls2 GTO which was faster. i know this is a mag test but 5 tenths difference to the better of an experienced driver sounds hard to believe in the same car. maybe when i go to the track this spring i will see for myself what times they are really running.

i am not trying to fuel the fire, just stating the facts. i really do like both cars.

I had a 01 WS6. Never got it to a dyno but stock it trapped 109.46 mph to give an idea what kind of hp it put down. (the run was a 13.41 on a 2.3 60') I also had a 99 Z28 a while back and it dynoed 280rwhp and ran 101mph. (auto with bad spark plugs, the run was a 13.80 on a 2.0 60'). The 99 Z28 was pretty much on par with my 97 Cobra.

Just some info.

The 05 Goat has 400 HP (probably 340 to 350-ish to the wheels), and will have no problems with an 05 GT. The 04 Goat has 350 HP (~300 RWHP), and given its extra weight, is a much closer race - easily within driver abilities (or lack there-of).

I saw that - it made 351 RWHP, which is certainly believeable to me.

As for Vettes and GTO drivetrain losses....I don't see where they would be much different, as both have the same tranny and an IRS.
