05 GT: worth $10,000 in year 2014
04 Cobra: worth $20,000 in year 2014

You get the picture. Cobras are more rare, more collectible, and DEFINITELY more mod friendly (new pulley, intake, exhaust= 500+ whp)

Yeah right, a 10 year old mustang isnt going to be worth 20,000.

I've already seen very high mile 03 Cobras sell 15-19K. In 10+ years many of them will be beaten up rattle traps. I do think the low mile, near stock ones will hold their value well.

For the love of god TERMI! The 03-04 is so much better unless your are one of those people that just wants the new look. If you want the proven performer: big breaks, independent rear, 6-speed, forged crank 4V, etc... GET THE COBRA.

I'd love for you to elaborate on this one.

....and a stiffer chassis, better suspension, more solid over all car, cleaner, more functional, roomy interior, improved creature comforts, etc, etc

The S197's have improved "brakes" over the previous GT as well and are pretty near on par with the 13" units on the '03-'04 Cobra. The independent rear is a blessing for some, but a hindrance for others, 6-speed is a stout gearbox, but certainly not as nice shifting as the T3650, and guys wanting an Auto, will be all out of luck with the Cobra. Forged Crank....the stock cast steel unit in the 3V engine will handle over 600hp....so how much more of an advantage will you gain in most instances with a forged unit? 4V....Great head, but all testing I've seen has shown the 3V heads seem to flow almost every bit as well as the 4V castings up top, without the drop in low-end and mid-range torque. I'd say on a street car, that puts the "head" advantage in the 3V corner.

I don’t mind people rhyming off reasons why they prefer the Cobra over the S197, but if we’re going to compare the two head to head like that, let’s at least get the facts strait.

Ok...Lets see here:
I've driven both, the Cobra has a much nicer finish in my opinion. If you want a modern/retro look, great for you. But if you like the better looking seats and a smoother looking interior the Cobra wins out.

Yes the 05' has a stiffer chassis but a better suspension... The Cobra has better shocks, better looking wheels, ?wider tires? oh and umm...lets see...IRS!

I don't know what "creature comforts" your talking about but let me know if the 05' has more than a few things the Cobra doesn't. Maybe you can list them?

Better breaks. Better tranny. Better engine. ect. ect. I'm not trying to fight about it (so don't take anything I said as smarta$$ed I don't mean to sound that way) But having driven both, I'm simply stating the Cobra is a better car but thats just my .02. I'm not against the 05+ cars and I think they have a lot of potential but you just cant go wrong with the Cobra.
