05+ UK SVA conversion kit?

I've been told that you can buy the kit for the head and tail lights to convert over to a UK standard light setup. Does anyone know where you can buy this type of conversion kit?

I'm hoping my car arrives this week, but then I have to have it converted over so it can pass their inspection, and the exterior lighting is the key part.

Any ideas?

There is no such thing as a UK conversion kit. The stock headlamps will pass SVA as the headlamp beam is a flat pattern, not a dip but avoid the HIDs as I believe you have to have washers and the Stang doesn't.

The rear lights have to be converted to incorporate an orange indicator and you have to have white sidelights at the front (no orange) plus you have to fit a rear fog light and illuminated switch. You can buy Euro rear light clusters but they are made in Europe and obtainable off ebay but I'd still suggest you get it done professionally.

Be aware that there are specialist SVA conversion specialists in the UK who understand the technicalities of the electrical system and only experience has resulted in the right way to do it. It is not like the old days with simple electrics, it's complicated electronics and doing it wrong can result in a burnt out Smart Junction Box months or years down the line. Even with the best will in the world, US electricians may not get it right and you'll have no comeback if it blows and end up with a £1000 bill.

Come to www.S197.co.uk for further information.

Thanks for the info LV51FER! I've been doing a bit of perusing around the local UK Mustang sites and found lots of info from those of have had the conversion done, and with the addition of the SJB, I'm in no hurry to make the attempt, even though I do consider myself slightly better than just mechanically inclined...

I just can't wait to get mine here! It's supposedly coming into port tonight, and hopefully by Wednesday I'll have a chance to drive it again! :D

Both http://www.s197.co.uk/ and http://www.mocgb.net/ are soon to be my most valuable resource with this car.

Thanks again!

ps. I've read great things about Sigma in Norfolk, and sent them an inquiry. Do you know of any other respectable, reliable sources near Huntingdon? That may be a better question for the other sites....

You also need an amber turn indicator roughly where out GT logo is.

The approved ones are on this thread (although someone has expressed at least one concern about Mildenhall though I suspect that may have been an early conversion before everyone was up to speed).

When you come to sell your Mustang, you'll find that this is the first thing people ask after a number of SJB fry-ups.

The S197 site has loads and loads of info posted already geared to the UK Mustang owner although you'll still be coming here, as I do, for more information and help and just to drink in Mustangs.

Good to hear that about Mildenhall, as that was one of the first places recommended by a fellow Mustang owner. I find Sigma to be quite enticing because not only do they have the Euro style tail lights mentioned on their site, but they also have the "come to me" service that I must admit, is very attractive. :)

Surrey Mustangs (formerly Godden Bishop) will also come to you. A recent quote I saw to remedy the wiring on badly SVA'd Mustangs was around £600 so I assume that a full conversion wouldn't be too much more than that. The Euro-style rear lights can be bought off ebay.co.uk for around £130 a pair.
