Has any one experienced this. When in 3rd gear you take your foot off the throttle at 40 mph or less as your slowing down and I get a heavy vibration that you can feel in the shifter. As soon as you apply throttle it goes away. This only happens in 3rd gear and was also happening with the stock shifter, MGW and Hurst.
I went to the ford dealer and the transmission tech told me that its due to the way that 3rd gear is cut and that all the manual GT's do it. Sounds like a load of BS because all other gears are as smooth as butter. I went over to Chris at Blowby Racing and they came on a test drive and said that they have never felt this before and had no clue what it could be.
Got about 5 months let on the warranty.

Just tell them it grinds in 3rd during cold temps...they will replace all the syncros (there is a TSB for this issue)...since they will have it open, maybe they can see something else wrong with it...

I'm in FL and I just had my tranny done under warranty for the cold weather issue... No issues from the dealer. They took the car and got it done...

I didn't have vibration issues; I went in for 3rd grinding in cold weather...sub 50*.
The dealer told me this issue can also cause vibrations...

I'm in Central Florida (Daytona)...

Do they try to blame it on your aftermarket shifter ?

Well, mine is a Roush and it does have a Roush short shifter...but they did not say anything...
They already new the 2007 - 2008 have issues with the transmissions.

I went to Gary Yeoman Ford...they are the best dealership in the nation. They just won Roush's #1 dealership award for 2009. Their service is amazing. Though I don't know if it has anything to do with buying the car there...

I've gone to Tropical Ford in Orlando and they are not bad, but I wouldn't recommend then either, their service is mediocre.

Can you put the stock shifter back on and take it to the dealers? Some dealers are just @$$es when it comes to mods. Others don't care... You have to find a good knowledgeable dealership...

Finally got the car into Wayne Akers in Lake worth. Their tech test drove the car wtih me and said that there is definatly a problem. just found out yesterday after they took the tranie apart that they have ordered a brand new transmission for me under warranty. they said it's easier than replacing some parts that might take 2 months to get. should have it back next week.

Yeah but they will charge you for it! A clutch is one of those wear and tear items that doesn't get covered under our warranties. So if you want one ask, and if you don't then tell them no just in case they decide to put one on anyways...They usually charge 800$, but since the tranny is already out prob 600$ is my guess
