Bought an 07 supercharged mustang GT convertible 5sp posi,4.6 3V stroked to 5.0,, previous owner had stock cams put back in,had a falling out with shop, picked up the car, shop had pulled performance tune out and hadn't installed a different tune yet,is the story, not sure which way to go from here

Welcome to :SN:!

Sounds like you bought yourself some drama! That kinda sucks....
I'm not the authority on these types of things, but if I had to guess, you'll probably have to pay if you want to have it tuned either by the previous shop or another of your choice.

Curious if I could buy new ECM with paired keys and start over from stock

I don't think you're going to be able to run that stoker on the stock PCM/tune.

I think you're going to have to find another performance shop and get a tune done.
I know some tunes won't install unless there is one in it to pull out,I thought I could maybe install custom tune myself if I had made online if I have stock tune to pull out

Does it run or does it run badly or what? Not much information here.

It runs pretty strong but If I decelerate and use gears it will go lean,in a hurry and go into limp mode,so if I drive it I just free wheel it up to stop,of course not running nearly as strong as it can, when dialed in before with big cams it Dyno at 640hp

If they returned it to stock - wouldn't it be the stock tune that runs it now. If so, another tuner may be able to write you a new tune for all your modifications. If you get a hold of Brent at Brenspeed he would be able to advise you if they can or not. He worked with me with tunes from 2006 through delete plates, underdrive pulleys then Comp Cams VSR and finally the Saleen S/C 530 hp and was always very informative and helpful. There are others that use Lito for theirs. There should be a solution for your dilemma.

When I tried an off the shelf tuner it couldn't put anything in because there was nothing to pull out,is how it was explained to me, I'm new to the whole tune thing,an older SCT tuner came with the car, tried to update it but too old,it does get into where I can set perimeters but I have any idea what they should be so haven't messed with it

It sounds to me like you need to get it in someplace and get it tuned before the whole damned thing goes:

A boosted application is not the place to be experimenting. You are one lean pop away from total destruction.

Don't know if an off the shelf tuner will work. When I got my XCal 2 (Old as the hills) I had to supply my ECM Strategy to Brenspeed before they could write the tunes and it's married to the ecm and won't work to program other vehicles. The Sct tuner downloads the stock tune and retains it if it's ever needed to return to stock and it has to be returned to stock before it can be reprogrammed for a different vehicle. I still use that Xcal 2 to this day and it worked for all the subsequent tunes I got. It has a few parameters I have experimented with timing and others without hurting anything. Generally canned tunes are written pretty safe so you can't screw them up - Dyno tunes - I'm not sure. You can always download your vehicles strategy from https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt, but you would need a method to program it and then retune car with all the mods. Forscan is one program that some use to program the original As-built, but in your case that would have to be carefully researched before.

Well I appreciate the advice and recommendations, when I get it handled I will share the outcome,if I don't get rid of the car, I've been looking for older v8 stick hot rod to trade but no luck, mine only has 33,000 miles on it,maybe it's the convertible that turns people off idk
