Ok, I went to the track to see what my car would do with the new setup. Mods are at the bottom.
1st run was 2nd 3rd
60ft 2.24 2.13 2.16
330ft 6.165 5.994 6.07
1/8 9.376 9.188 9.30
mph 78.65 79.81 78.23
1000' 12.01 11.85 11.97
1/4 14.31 14.15 14.27
mph 98.21 98.48 100.19

The car has TFS heads, stage 1 cam, street intake, 70mm tb, 75mm maf, 24lbs inj, underdrive pullies, shortie headers, h-pipe, flows, 3.73, 255lph. A couple weeks ago it was dyno tuned and put down 297hp/331tq.
When I ran it had 18x9 wheels all the way around on street tires and I drove almost 2 hrs to get there.
With that power I woulda thought that it would have trapt a little higher than that. Would the wheels have made that much difference?
When I first got there i let it cool down for 30mins and another 1/2hr til the second run. 3rd run it was almost 1hr, but the intake was still almost too hot to touch. Would that have made that much of a difference?
What do you typically shift at, I tried 6000 and then 5700

Sorry for the long post. Thanks

Something is not right. I am running about the same as you with less mods. We both have similar 60' times. I run BFG DRs 275/40R17s. We both have 14.1-3sec ETs. You are trapping about 2-3mph higher in the 1/4 than me though. You are also about 1-2mph higher at the 1/8th. Are you shifting slow or something? Even though you are running a 'vert with that power you should have me beat.

Here are a couple of my runs this year.

Run Date Time Lane DIAL R/T 60' 330' 1/8 Mile 1/8 MPH 1000' 1/4 Mile 1/4 MPH
11 8/4/2006 7:55 PM Left 14.20 0.156 2.019 5.822 9.021 77.24 11.775 14.103 97.08
17 9/8/2006 8:47 PM Left 14.28 0.158 1.993 5.840 9.057 77.10 11.835 14.199 92.67
On run 17 I let off at the 1000' so the mph is low.

Im not granny shiftin it, but not power shifting it either. Im not so much worried about et as i am mph. I thought that I should be trapping a little higher. It was spinning badly in 1st and a little in 2nd gear though.

yea i dont think something is right. i used to race with 18's before i got my DOT's and i went from 14.2' to 13.9's and up my mph a couple. with the mods u have i think u should easiy be in the 13's with some practice and traction.

Well that kinda explains the slightly higher mph. Tire spin will give you a higher speed with higher ET times. I don't power shift my T5 but I do shift very quickly. Enough to where each shift gives me a nice tire 'bark' and jerks the car a bit. I am willing to bet you don't trap at your optimal RPM. I really think swapping out the 3.73s and installing some 4.10s would have both our cars closer to being at peak RPM at the top of the track.

You should be low 13's with that.......if you can get a 1.8 60 you'll be there.....IMO
There's no doubt about that. Better traction will get him 13s. BUT, his mph should be quit a bit higher with his mods. Lower ETs doesn't neccessarily equal higher trapped speeds. Better traction, car/driver weight, and air quality all effect how well the runs at the track are that day.

Oh no doubt.........your talking to someone with some "questionable" trap speeds.....I just looked at his mods and they are very close to mine....with the exception of track vs street intake blah blah.....and thought he was high considering the mods he has.......

I pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the car. Im starting to think it was just a combination of a lot of things that make it a little slower. Like heat soak, bad tire spin, shifting at different rpms, me not being the best driver. A few more trips down the track and I should get the times down and mph up. :D
