Where and how does the inner beltline for a 1/4 window on a 68 coupe mount? I am installing all new weather stripping and I am not sure how or where to attach this part to. Anybody have any pictures?

Thanks,

Mario

Your beltlines should have come with instructions, a small drill bit, and the staples. The qtr trim panel in the back comes out. Pry the stapels out of the old beltline and remove it, clamp the new bletline in place and drill through the pre-punched holes. Put the staples through and crimp in place. You will not be able to do this in a hurry. It will take some time. Take your time andi t will turn out ok.

Just did mine on the 66 coupe, used 4 small pop rivits per side. Same process, clamp beltline in place drill hole and pop rivit in place, the staples are a pain in the arss compared to the rivits IMO and I'm not looking for concourse correct.

Thanks guys. I haven't looked at the qtr trim panels in about 7 years since I took the car apart, no wounder why I couldn't figure out where they mounted on the body of the car.

Thanks,

Mario

Pop rivits would be easier, but also easier to see. The staples really are a huge pain to bend over flat. I have tried nearly everything. Channel locks can work. Short needle nose pliers or a combination. Have fun!

I figure, the first person that puts his head that close to the side of my car and then lips off about seeing rivits gets a lump on his forehead!!! LOL
After I installed the rivits I touched them up with black paint, you have to look REALLY hard to see them.

I wonder if it's possible to find painted rivits. I know you can find white ones. I think I will give that a try that next time. It would be far easier to hit the heads with some black paint with a brush. It's got to be a million times faster to pop rivit those things on. Miserable job.

nice, post if you find out anything.
p.s. - i used 1/8" width x 1/4" depth, much deeper and you may have problems with the rivits hitting the inner skin of the 1/4 pannel.
