1/4 window moulding covers

how do the 1/4 window moulding covers fit, quality,etc.. mine are dry rotted a little, and I would like to use one of these kits, if they turn out looking good. so how did yours turn out ? do you have any pics? was it hard to do? thanks in advance.

you better off sanding and painting them, looks 100x better then the covers

they dont fit flush, they kinda stick out from the side.. The one guy on here has them on his GT, and they look aight in the pictures, but they would look even better if he sanded and redid them,, its cheaper, and it looks much cleaner.

have em like em...took long time to fit properly...NOBODY can tell the difference on mine without knowing what your looking for, however I did put mine on while car was being repainted so I was able to use a stronger adhesive than supplied with and not have to worry about excess adhesive showing because it was removed in the prep stages prior to paint. My quarters were bastardized by the last failed attempt to sand and paint by the previous owner.

If you want to just freshen up your trim and make it black again use forever black. It works amazingly well, I used it on all my trim over a year ago and it still looks black, has not faded at all and it totaly got rid of the ratty grey old trim look.

Im using high strength epoxy appliance paint from home depot, like 4 bucks a can, a couple coats. It makes a high gloss black that is very hard to chip and looks great.

Did you just paint them or did you sand too. I think I need to do something with mine because they are pitted. What grit should I use and what technique. Can I just use any paint thats designed for flexibility.

sanding is a must, start at a pretty rough grit and work your way all the way up to 600 or so,,, get it smooth, then apply the paint

Most all good basecoats will cover up to 320grit scratches. Absolutly no need to go up to 600grit. 600grit is a finishing grit for high quality paint jobs, or else 500wet. These are moldings here not a high quality base/clear paint job, stop sanding at 320grit.

actually you cant buy a new set, you can only buy the covers, and if you want new rear 1/4 moldings, you need to buy the entire rear window. Dont worry i dont think u can mess it up, its pretty simple, i actually have a how to guide on it, found it online, but the link is saved on my other computer and thats at school.. maybe somebody else has the link

the "correct" way, is to take the 1/4 windows off the car, and tape off the window portion, sand the crap outa them, and then paint, i think if you tape off the car body and window really well, you can sand and paint them right on the car

I was flipping through the new Mustang and Fast Ford and a company on there sells them refurbed for $299 with core return. Thats way better than $600.
