1.6 or 1.7 roller rockers with E-Cam (E-303) and my combo?

If your signature is your current combo, which I assume it is, than I think I and others would appreciate more info.

By "stud conversion", do you mean machining your pedestal mount heads for 3/8" or 7/16" studs.....or by "stud conversion" do you mean using a kit from Comp or Crane, etc. which uses studs a 5/16" bottom thread that screws into your pedestal mount heads with no modification?

I have an opinion for you, but would like some clarification.

Why do you want to spend the money on converting to stud mount?

What benefit do you think you are going to get from having an adjustable valve train?

With the crane kit, that is the only benefit, adjustability.

Don't get me wrong, an adjustable valve train is great, but if you are already running a pedestal mount setup I see little to no benefit to converting to stud mount.

Especially because those rocker studs are not very strong because the base thread size is so small to allow them to be used in pedestal mount heads with 5/16" bolt holes. If you were removing your heads and having them machined for standard screw-in studs, that would be one thing...

It just seems like a waste of money to me.

If you have 1.7 cobra rockers now, and switch to stud mount 1.7 roller rockers, you should notice no difference at all if the valve train was set up properly each time.

If you swap from 1.7 cobra pedestal mounts to 1.6 stud mount roller rockers, you may notice a slight loss, but probably not particularly at any one range of rpm, just across the whole powerband from the slight decrease in valve lift.

pedestal roller rockers always tick...its something that I see over and over people complaining about but its part of their "setting"...

In my opinion, to be on the safe side, go with a b-cam and the 1.7 rollers...thats what i have and with stock pistons and a mild head job I have no piston/valve problems...dont know it with the e and the 1.7 would have problems though

i wouldnt reccomend 1.7s with an E-cam on stock heads. the E has enough lift as is.

the B-cam on the other hand has pretty low lift and work great with 1.7s that what i use and it works good.
