1.90's on a 347?

I have ported Holley heads with 1.90" intake valves. Will this small valve size be a big disadvantage on a 331/347 stroker? If money weren't an issue I'd get AFR 185's...but money is an issue

I went with Edlebrock's performer heads. 2.02 valve. They rock! I'm over 400hp with my Holley blower and yet still a setup you don't see often. Sell the heads for some 2.02's. Good Luck!

It'd be much more beneficial to compare Flow Data instead of valve sizes. Valve size is just one part of the equation.

Thanks. I could probably dig up flow data for the Holley heads pre-ported, but I guess I'd have to have my heads flowed to know what I actually have.

Anybody have experience flowing heads? Who does it and how much $?

honestly if money IS an issue right now then run what you got. Later, as funds permit you can upgrade. Don't stress on it. what cam are you thinking of running with the 331/347?? do up the rest of the motor right and you will still be happy. then when you can afford the 185's get them. if your holleys are ported they probably flow very well.

The flow data link above will lead you to stock flows for all the heads listed. If your's are already ported, they're probably already flowing as much or more than the Edelbrock Performer, possibly catching up to the flow numbers for the AFRs.

Call up Fox Lake or TEA and see how much it'd be to get them flowed. If you have any serious engine builders locally, you might call some of them. Flowbenches aren't as expensive as they once were. I was surprised to know the number of shops around here that have them.

If you want the best upgrade for the $$$ ($150 @ Summit) with your setup, I'd trade that TFS stage 1 in for a TFS stage 2. (JMO) Don't forget Christmas is coming

It's more about runner flow capabilities, than the size of the valve. Example, GT40 irons have an 1.84 Intake valve. While smaller than 1.90, it's close. But GT40 irons don't flow what your Holley heads do because of small runners
