10.5:1 compression. How much total timing???

I am running a solid lifter 347 with a 10.5:1 compression ratio. I recently switched to 110 leaded fuel and bumped timing to 40 degree total timing. Anyone have a similar setup? I am just looking to hear what other ppl are running. Thanks!

with that much compression I would say thats as much as you wanna do , maybe even take it down a notch

In the past I've run 36-38 degrees of timing in my "hot" carded set ups. 40 is in the ballpark. If you can make it to the track your best bet is to test it out each way and see what you come up with.

11:1 347 here and I run 34* total from 4000+ on 93 pump gas.

Untill it pings, What octaine do you run? Alum heads? What kind of head gaskets? It all makes a diff...

MY MPH at the track didn't change much, but it was bad air. 85-95 and really humid. I don't see much of an indication good bad or otherwise on the plugs. I also went up 2 sizes on jets with the bump in timing so it was really to many changes to get a good indication. I wanted more fuel and maybe a wisp of black smoke between shifts anyway.

They are track heat aluminum heads. I think I am going to back it off to 38 then try it one day I can get a few runs in at the track. I just thought I'd catch someone with a similar setup.
