10" stripe kit install???

I want to put a stripe kit on my car, but shops around here charge $700-$800...I have put on saleen stripes and Steeda side stripes on previous cars, but never on bumper creases. The decals I've gotten in the past come with a backing and I don't see how they would mold to the bumper to dry. Anyone know how to apply the stripe kit on the bumper areas???

I purchased a 10" kit on-line that included the bumpers.

It is not an easy install.
It takes time so make sure you have it before you start.

The soapy water with a small amount of alcohol mixture technque will work.
It will allow you to move the stripes into the proper position.

The kit I purchased had the front bumper stipes in two parts, an upper piece and a lower piece.

I installed the upper one first, carefully squeezing all of the water out once it is in the proper position. The corners did not lay down at first. As the material dries, it becomes more sticky and eventually it would lay down, but with a small crease.

I used a heat gun VERY carefully to remove the crease.

Once everythying had dried very well, (2 hot days) I installed the lower section of the bumper stripe.

Take your time. I had to pull the bumper stripes off and re-apply them a couple of times. (before the heat gun use)

try to buy a pre-cut kit. no matter what it will take a lot of time and patience, but definitely try to get a precut kit because the front and rear bumpers are hell if it isnt pre cut. it took me about 10-11 hours over two days to do everything perfect with a non pre-cut kit. good luck. oh yeah i used the soapy water technique and if you use this technique make sure you spray on both sides of the stripe so that when you are smoothing it out with the squeegy it doesnt scratch the top of the stripe.

Very good advice....
Also, do not get the paper backing material of the stripe too wet. It can melt itself onto the glue of the stripe and make installation a real mess. Nothing like having to scrape paper backing material out of the glue while holding the stripe away from the car surface so it wont stick. YIKES!

Keep the soap mix on the glue side for positioning, and the top side while squeeging. Minor imperfections like ripples from streaching the material and bubbles will work themselves out over time.

I have a pre-cut kit, and it required some minor trimming where the top and bottom pieces of the bumper stripe overlayed. (L & R side edges)

my installation was easy.. for me... I took my car to a tint shop, and man they know how to apply these things! They are explerts on bumpers and that sort... and they just charged me $60 dls.

anyways, my car is right now at the bodyshop, getting the stripes painted (instead of decaled) and they are also installing my new ducktail...

definately don't get the backing paper wet or the vinyl will stick to the paper when you peel it off. Take your time on the front bumper stripes and make sure they are straight, mine start out good, but get wider in the middle. have two people or don't try it! I don't see how anyone does this by themselves.

I just applied a precut strip kit (with bumpers) a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't difficult. Just follow the manufacturer's directions. The soap, water, little bit of alcohol mixture worked great. If you do get the backing wet, don't worry. A small amount of the paper will stick, but will easily come off once wet with a finger nail or squeege. Just make sure you get it all before flipping the stripe over and placing on your car.
