In preparation for a real motor I've been pushing progressively harder and harder on my stock 153,000mi bottomend. Dyno'd it Saturday night at 485rwhp at 6000rpm, right at 16psi measured with some tire slip.

Sunday for the track temp was about 61*F out, around 400DA. Made about five passes working with the 60ft to whittle it down. Trapped in the mid 120s each run, low 12s to low 11s depending on how good or bad the launch was.

Finally found a good spot with my ET Streets at 15psi. Left at 1500rpm off the footbrake to a 1.65 60ft. Car went 11.01 @ 127.65, had just a split second of detonation before the traps, enough to ream out the 8548-PT2 gaskets but heads/block/pistons look perfect. No signs of detonation on them. Two plugs had the electrode slightly eaten away.

All in all, excellent track day. I am impressed how far my full interior/optioned 3850 (with me) convertible has come. Originally ran a best of 15.3 @ 89mph. My only change for the track is swapping tires, everything else is just how I drive it 300miles every week!

I'll have it back running tonite and make some adjustments on my octane for the 17psi I'm seeing at 6300rpm - going to mix in some race gas - and run it into the 10s before I upgrade blocks. I should be able to get some 1.5X 60fts as well with a more aggressive launch.

Thanks guys, found a little more carnage tonite. Not related to the head gasket though but it delayed me getting the car running and back on the dyno tonite.

Will be putting a new valve in it tomorrow. The welded tip just came off... inexpensive valves in the Trickflow head.

Then it's back to the track for 10s.
