117k on a 95 GT

How long SHOULD they last if they have been taken well care of? Is this too many miles to have a little fun with the car? What should I be looking for, and what about the T-5... too many miles on it? 5k obo

I bought my car with 116K on it and ran the hell out of it for 50K after that. It was making some noise when I pulled the engine, but it still ran strong!

Well this is the third time I have been shot down today, first one I was going to look at was a 94 GT with 74k, sold last night. 2nd one was a 95 GT with 85k, sold 2 hours before I went to get it.. that pissed me off. And now this one I have no way to get to it..

As for the mileage if its been well maintained you can definately get a couple more miles out of it. I bot mine with 138k on it and have done a lot to the engine and its still holding up.

207k miles on mine and running perfectly fine. It's all in how well they take care of it.

127 K - bought with 92K and just starting to mod' - only problems have been smog pump, exhaust problem which I am replacing ALL OF IT shortly, and minor issues - e.g. gas tank, radiator, belt, brakes. That's it! That should def. egg you on - TEST DRIVE HER FIRST. That's why I bought mine. My prev. owner took care of her and its all how well she's been taken care of.

I'd just wait cuz 5 grand is TOO much. I paid 4750 for mine with 56,000 miles. I almost bought one with 110,000 for about the same price so glad i waited, thats half the miles about.Or offer him like 4 grand. But any/most engines that
are taken care of will last.,,

I've got over 146,000 on mine and it runs great. I take the stang on business trips which can be as long as 6 hours one way and I've never had a single problem yet.

I get most of my fluids flushed/replaced yearly, oil changed every 3K, and a tune-up every couple years. A few things have been replaced like the alternator, battery, starter, and waterpump, but those are easy replacements which are commonplace. Some may be more agressive with maintenance, but this has allowed me to take my stang anywhere without the fear of it breaking down.

Listen very closely to the stangs you're interested in. No radio or A/C during test drives, just pure motor. A T-5 should last a good bit on a stock motor unless the owner has driven it poorly and too agressive. My T-5 is still bone stock with no servicing except for the fluid change. IF you're not very familiar with driving a manual, get a buddy who is to feel the car out.

$4,000.00 sounds alright. 5K is a little much possibly.

Well thanks for the advice, but I have to wait for another one to come around.. Like I said, I lost the 3 chances yesterday that I had.. The one I'm most upset about was a 95 GT 5 speed with 85k, could have been mine for right around 5k. I went to go buy the car and the place is almost 2 hours away, so I called them right before I left only for them to tell me they had sold it. I went into a rage for close to 30min.. I just wonder why I cant just buy one of these cars without complication.

You know, now that I think of it...........while passing by several used car lots, I rarely ever see a 94/95 GT for sale or rather any 94+ GT for that matter. Odd, but I guess it's a good thing.

Keep looking, cause you're bound to come upon a good deal that may be better than the stangs you've already looked at. Good luck.

I just purchased mine for $5,800 with 60,000 miles on it. Keep looking you will find one.

166,000 on mine and not a problem with the engine in sight. :knock on wood:

Tranny went at 150,000 though.

Its driving me nuts now, since they sold the one that I was ready to buy the other day, I've seen some of the sweetest Stangs around here.. It makes me so mad!!! So anyone that bought a low mileage 5.0 for a good price did you find them at a dealer or through a private seller?
