I want to use my cigarette lighter or power window for a keyed 12v source for the arming switch on my nitrous setup. My multimeter died on me and I can't find my test light anywhere. Does anybody know which color wire is the keyed 12 volt source?

There are 4 wires leading into the grey clip. blue with a white stripe. blue with red stripe. And what looks like to blacks going into the same connection.

The power window harness has like 6 or 7 wires. Kinda dirty and I can see what colors they are without cleaning them.

I want to use these wires since I am mounting my window switch, purge button, and arming switch in the same little area the cigarette lighter was housed in. I made a little plate for everything and trimmed the plastic away. This will greatly reduce my wiring.

Use the low coolant sensor red wire on the radiator overflow tank.
OR
any one of the red wires on the engine fuel injector harness.

They are all controlled by the ignition switch and supply 12 volts with the key in the Run position.

Use a fuse in series with any circuit you tap into to protect the wiring. Use a 5 amp fuse fro 18 gauge wiring, 10 amp fuse for 16 gauge wiring and 15 amp fuse for 14 gauge wiring. Do not oversize the fuse: it protects the parts you have added and the wiring that connects them together.

Thank you for posting that. I'm sure in the future it will come in handy. But for what I am doing, the cigarette lighter 12v source will be more than sufficient. It also lets me run less than 2 inches of wire vs. 8-9 feet of wire.

I understand about the desire for a close wire, but jrichker has your best interest in mind.

How about an even safer idea that is not too far away? The fuel pump relay's power out wire would help insure the nos system gets power only when the fuel pump does. Mine right under the driver's front seat. If the fuel pump relay fails, it would cut power to both circuts. Anyone who uses giggle gas and does not know the importance of that may have a rebuild in their future! But the destruction from no fuel and all nitrous will get your gory pictures in Car Craft.
