When upgrading to a 130 amp, is there any advantage to installing a heilcoil in the alternator bracket instead of a
3/8 " bolt and nut?

I've always used a heli coil. Hole is even the correct size for the tap. Worked good every time. The advantage? Don't have to mess with a nut and personally, I think it looks cleaner.

It's an option, not an advantage.

Use a bolt and then use a self-locking nut. That way you can be sure that it will stay in place.
