i changed the speedo from 85 to 140 and had a hard time until i figured out how to unclamp it.i put in a used 140 speedo i took off from a roller i bought and for some reason it does not work unless i tap the guage then it engages.so i took it apart thinking maybe its not clamped in all the way but no its still the same problem.could it be a bad speedo guage or bad cable?i did not try putting the 85 speedo back in to see if it really was the guage.this was all done in the fall and as soon as the weather cooperates i'll get back at it again.just curious if anyone else have had this problem

I would pull the cable out of the transmission and make sure the teeth are good on the end of the cable, and good on the output shaft of the trans. If they are both good, I would say the speedo might be bad. I work at an autosalvage yard, and I sell these quite a bit to out-of-state customers.
