Every where I look I see 15.3 as a 1/4 mile time for a 1987 GT with a 5 speed, & needless to say 15.3 doesn't sound right. Especially for a 3100LB 225HP 300trq with a 5spd car . I imagend it as a 14.5 to 14.7 car. So am I missing somthing?

low 15's is the average for a bone stock 5-speed car.

You gotta remember... the 225hp and 300tq is at the fly and not the wheels.. also, 3100lbs is ligher than they actually weigh.

not to mention.. years/abuse/mileage all play a factor into *lower than expected* performance.

with that said.. plenty of people pull of your *imagined* 14.5 in bone stock form with good driving. Its not AT ALL unheard of. The majority of people really can't drive.. sad but true.

I'd think 15.3 would be more of a time to expect from an AOD car. I pulled off a 14.7 in my stock 95 and I know a stock 5 speed Fox would walk away from a stock 5 speed SN 5.0...

Low to mid 15's are what AOD's do.Mid to high 14's from a 5spd. Also there was never a GT made between 87 and today that wieghed 3100lbs. Add 200lbs.

Look at your mph and 60' times. That will tell you where your car is standing.

from what i have seen the average stock 5speed will run a high 14, with a little bolt ons they go faster.

and the aods i see run mid-high 15s and even low 16s. every car is diff and has been driven differently it whole life. some taken care of and driven right.

some no maintained and driven like a race car and are all worn out.

Now AOD is the automatic tranny right? I know I have heard AOD from somewhere before.

As for the weight, there is some despute. Alot of people say it is 3100 to 3200 LB, others have gone as far as to say it ways 3500LB. So I wouldn't know unless it gets weighed.

I used to bracket race my old '88 GT (AOD / 2.73 gears) 120k daily driver. It ran consistent 14.9-15.0 with only 14 degrees of base timing and the air silencer removed. Slow by today’s standards but back in the early 90's it wasn't too bad.

Bone stock, my 90' GT ran a 14.7 with blown trac-loc and NO traction... The 87/88s are supposed to be slightly faster stock since they're speed-density, so mid-14s should not be a problem at all... The 14.7 was my first time at the track too, so i think she's got more left in her.
