17” wheels on a 67

17” wheels on a 67

Who is running 17” on a 67 Mustang? Any issues? How wide a wheel can you run?
What backspacing do you need for the front and back? On the back I am very curious about the back spacing. I swapped out my stock 8” for a 9” out of 69, which is a bit wider. If possible I was hoping I could just use more back spacing to make up for the width in the rear-end. I’d hate to have to Narrow the rear-end if I don’t have to.

My boss has some repos that look like the late model Bullitts,they have 4.5" BS and fit great on the rear but the front could have used a 1/4" less BS.I had to roll the fender lip to clear,a narrower tire may help,he has 245/45/17.

I think 69 and 67 rear ends are the same width. At least the one out of a 70 cougar was the same as my 67...

The 8" in the front is ok but the BS could be 1/4" less.

There are adapters made specifically for late model 17x8 wheels like the bullits. Ive seen them in a few mags but cant remember exactly who sells them. It might have been mustangs plus
