17's or 18's

17" are really the way to go ... If you start getting into the 18's (and we are talking about looks here, and this would be my My Opinion) than yes, they fill the 'outside' of the wheel wells up, nicely. However, the way that most Mustang wheels are designed they have alot of open space within the wheel itself, and opting for the 18's it leaves it more open Inside the wheel. IMO, go with the 17's and get the cheaper tires, etc... and use the larger sidewalls of the tires to fill the 'outside' portion of the wheel wells, and the 17's to fill in the 'inside' (or center) portion. ... I went with 17's on my car; very satisfied.

Saleens come with 18's....i guess they arent concerend with performance.

Totally off topic....what would you think if you saw a escalade on 20's or 22's all black with tinted windows???? Then what would you think when the guy got out and told you it ran mid 12's with just a turbocharger? You can have big wheels if it fits the car, you can have chrome and still go fast, seems to me like you are a little narrow minded about the performance scene, which is cool cause its your opinion

i switched from 17s to 18s and doesnt feel any different. steering might feel a lil better (imo) i switched from chrome cobras to black fr500, so it really wasnt for bling. i didnt read everyone responses, but id go with what i liked. forget what everyone else says.

i doubt it cause i hate the smaller wheels from back in the day. It depends on what generation you are in IMO on what things u like, dislike, are used to, etc etc etc.

How old are you if you dont mind me asking?

Mine seems to be filled up pretty nicely.

Yea more open space INSIDE of the wheel means you need bigger breaks to fill up that space

Huge tires filling up the wheel well space doesnt look as good as a bigger wheel doing it IMO

im trying to convince my buddy to get 18" black deepdish bullitts on his white 95 cobra and he thinks they are gonna look too big. i think 17s look good in the front, but the sn95 almost needs the 18s in th rear to fill out the wheel wells, espically in deepdish. anyone have pics of 18" deepdish bullitts on a early sn95 (94-98)?

24...you hate the wheels from back in the day because they aren't the current trend.

Who knows what will be popular to the show crowd in another 20 years? I'm pretty sure it won't be ultra low-pros on big wheels though.

To 18 inch, or not to 18 inch is more appropriate of course and if you ask her, she will always tell you that bigger is better.

Either size will look good as long as the wheels aren't cheesy or spinning, which are sort of one in the same if you ask me. 17's and 18's both look good.

Your wallet will make the final decision for you. I;m planning to upgrade to 18" chrome M-1007-F500C's from FMS. After seeing the black ones on Suspect's car, it's a no brainer for me. But then again I am willing to spend the extra money on tires.

Whether you are into 17's or an 18's, our cars ride way too high in either case in their stock skin. Lowering springs from Eibach, BBK, etc. are a must.

No. Im not some kid who just likes whatever is "in style". If that was the case i would like 20s on mustangs or whatever else i could fit onto a car. I dont like the wheels from back then because it looks stupid. If my kids go for that look...i will still tell them it looks stupid. Its plain and simple man.

Looks like you know it all bro. So you can dislike big wheels now when its the trend but i cant dislike the old mini wheels because its not? If you think it wont be big wheels....then i hope you know some guys in the automotive industry who are designing these cars....they are being designed to accept bigger and bigger wheels. They have the 05 v6 mustang with a sports appearance package that comes STOCK with 19" wheels. And we are debating on 17-18" wheels But who knows where it will be in 20 years.

BTW, im really surprised by your age, i thought you would have been older.

i personally don't see that much of a diff. the weight, cost, durability, balancing isusses with the bigger wheels will always turn me off, unless i have a very LARGE brake package to completely fill them up.

Balancing issues? I have none and have not heard of any

And i would like to know how much the weight actually affects the car.....

18's all the way...by the way, i can outhandle alot of cars with my mm road race box suspension and the wheels just make it look good while i beat up on fancier cars

from experience with mounting and balancing 18,19,20 inch wheel/tire combos that they require more weights and generally don't come out as smooth as wheels that are smaller. tommorow when you go to work ask a tech about how much weight he usually puts on a 745 rear wheel vs a 17 in 330 wheel. as far as weight, just look at all the suv's that have increased stopping distance due to extra rotational mass from bigger/heavier wheels. and durability issues come from 18's being lightened to offset the weight penalty and being very prone to bending. obviously there are alot of performance vehicles out there running 18's and bigger from the factory, and that is just fine. i just prefer a 17 inch wheel.
