18" and 17'"

so im gonna get some new wheels, i already have a brand new pair of 245/45/17 bfg g-force t/a KDW so im kinda stuck with 17*8 for the front, i want to go as wide as i can but stick with the g-force, the widest they make is 295 but only for 18 wheels. i heard they might have made them in 315 before but stopped. anyone know anything bout this or if anyone still has any? looked all around me and tirerack etc... no luck

soo.. anyone have a new edge with 18s and 17s on it? wanna see what its like.

I cant answer all your questions, but I can tell you that you can run a 245 width tire on a 9 inch wide room and it look good, several people run them. Including me.

On 17X9 wheels you can run a 245/45/17 tire but,the sidewall
protection for the wheel will be small and short.
As for the rears the biggest I could find in those tires were a
285/40/17 and a 295/40/17 witch can be ran on a 17X10" or 17x10.5"
wheel safely.Putting huge wide wheels and tires in the back will
make your mustang make traction easier and you hook up better
at the track but,the heavier rear wheels and tires will hurt your
times and probably cost you two or three tenths.Although it will
improve the looks of your mustang.

285/35 x 18 is good in the back...along with 295/35 x 18

in the front i run 245/40 x 18

and since someone talked about the track and tenths of a second or whatever.....if you do go to the track....Get drag radials....perferably something like this... 315/35 x 17 Micky Thompsons.... street tires suck ass if you have mods. My 98 is pi swapped, bolt on's with tune...and i think theres still a little bit of spin when i launch at 4k rpm.

Yeah drag radials or slicks are the way to go when it
comes to running at the track.
I have been looking at Nitto NT05's. Does anyone have any experience
with these drag radials?

they're good. But, i dont think anything beats MT's or Hoosiers. But, for your car, i dont know if your car is PI swapped or not, but NT05's might be too much rubber for your car....it might bog at the take off because its going to REALLY REALLY grip. I had the 555's on my 2003 at the track when I got it. And they were 245/45 17. And they did the job. I got a 2.1 60' or something like that. I launched around 2k rpm

most mustangs with any sticky tire and any mods is going to bog at 2000 rpms. you just need to find the air pressure you run best with for that day and a rpm that woulnt bog your car.

thanks for all the help, how small would the sidewall be with a 245 on a 9? im not gonna curb it but im a little paranoid new rims wont help that.
@ ponyup where did you find 295/40/17? even bfg's site didnt have them, or i just missed em.

You can run 245/45/17 tires on a 17X9 wheel it is safe and bearable
just be careful that's all.
I talked to a guy at Discount Tire Company that said he could get the
285/40/17 and 295/40/17 BFG's you are looking for.Give them a call
and see what they do for you.

Now I'm considering the Nitto 555R Drag Radials for my car.

@ ponyup1 i just called discount tire and they told me none of thier locations had any in stock, do you know wich location you talked to? im goin nuts here i got one new tire on my car and one just sittin in the house i need some for the back
