18” vs. 17” wheels on fox

The fronts are 17x9 and the rears are 17x10. Rear rubber is 315/35/17 and the fronts are 255/40/17. To get the rears to fit and not rub was tricky.
First I had to use longer ARP wheel studs. Then, a 1/2" Baer spacer. I think it's 1/2". Bilstein quad shocks because they are narrower. I have LX exhaust on the car with the Cobra rear valance. When I tell you it clears by a 1/4", it clears by a 1/4". I've had this set up for years. I love it. Car makes a little over 500hp at the crank, so I need every little bit of that 315.

All on 4-lug. That is both, impressive and scary at the same time.

A looooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, before many of you were members here, we had a dude [Boosted87GT] (I think was his name). Making 500 crank HP back in those days was a [huge] deal.

This dude was a rich Jersey kid. Whatever "kit" he had his eyes on, would miraculously appear in his threads and images. This included a Procharger kit that most folks would have only run on a track car.

After a [ton] of warnings from some of the smartest folks on the forum at the time, he lit that bad boy up on the street, broke all the wheels studs loose, and planted that ass right on the ground. :rlaugh:

Now, granted he had not upgraded wheel studs or anything. Your setup smacked me with a vivid Scooby-Doo flashback. :pop:

The 4 lugs on my fox body surprised me.... Never was much around fords in my past and ALL of my mopars and Chevys had 5 lug, so this was different... I understand how the ford 4 lug wheels all had covers over the 4 lug " hub" to Hide them... Exposed 4 lug wheels are about as fugly as it gets....
Fixed my 83

I’ve seen his car in person, and it’s pretty impressive how it all fits so perfect! Beautiful car for sure!

Those ARP studs are legit. I don't think I could break them if I tried. Plus, I'm getting to old to drive my :poo: destructively. Costs too much to fix. My Foxbody slush fund dried up years ago. Lol

Thanks RDub6. Another car show season flew by and we never met up. Definitely have to do at least one next year. Seen some of the pics of your recent projects. Car looks amazing. You should be proud of yourself.

Thanks man! Appreciate it.
I don’t think I made one show, or one of the evening meet ups for that matter. Definitely have to make it a priority next year!

You can run any height wheel you want if you run the right size tire. Has nothing to do with what fits best. There aren't any issues with 18s that wouldn't have the same problem with 17s. The right width, offset and tire and you are fine.
And you don't need super wide tires that cause clearance issues for traction, just use better tires.
