18" wheels and suspension upgrade?

I have just purchased a beautiful 2006 tungsten gray GT. It has the polished 18" wheels. I read on this site, when the Mustang is equipped with this wheel pkg, it has an upgraded suspension. I can not find this information on my window sticker or on the invoice. My only idea is that the article meant that the suspension had to be changed to be able to accomodate this size wheel.
Anyone know the answer for sure?

I was told they softened the springs to accomodate the shorter tire sidewall
