I was just wondering what some people thought. If you think 18 inch rims or 20 inch rims would look better. i almost think 20's are too big. 18's look pretty good but im still tryin to decide. I'm also looking for rims if anyone has some they recommend or know of a site that has a large listing let me know. thx.

20" look way too big on most cars...'05 Mustang included. Have you seen the picture of the JBA-Mustang that has oversized wheels on it? 20" wheels make cars look like little Hotwheels toys or something.

You could get some 19's as a compromise.

Seriously, I had the same question, but I think I will stick with the 18's. If you go with a 20", I think it will look okay, but you will give up ride quality with a smaller sidewall on the tires. I think I have decided on 18x9's in the front and 18x10's in the rear.

the saleen comes with 20's. If saleen would put them on, I don't think they would be ugly cuz saleen wouldn't produce an ugly car. Get 20's, cuz you'll want them later if you get 18's. And 19 inch tires are more expensive generally than 20's.

I think the new saleen is hidious!
The plain jane GT is much better looking, and there will be much better body kits avalible then the saleen very soon

anyone have links to where I can find some 18x9 and 18x10? I am trying to find some rims that look cool as well. If you have any suggestions in those sizes post them please. Hopefully I will have enough money to buy them.

Yes,20" wheels aren't meant to be on mustangs!
They look really ugly so,get 17's or at the biggest 18's!

Bonspeed, a wheel manufacturer, had an '05 at SEMA, so you should check their website as well as maybe americanracing.com, although I don't know for sure if they'll have exactly what you're looking for.

For that matter, if anyone has seen a plain 18" or 17" six spoke wheel (bland, no extra dents, divots, or crap) for order please post. I'd love to see something like the wheels on the Ford GT (only just similar and cheaper, of course) be offered on the Mustang.

Yeah, sure. Have you seen the spoiler on that thing?
If you have to have big wheels, go with the 19's.
That is, if you don't mind the low sidewall.
I decided to go with the 18's.
The sidewall on my stock '03 tires is so small it always looks like pressure is low.

The Saleen is a pretty nice. The only things that I would change are: the wheels(wtf were they thinking), the tailight pannel, and add some side scoops.

I think 19's would be your best bet.

Forget 20s. Go with a lightweight multi-piece 19" staggered setup. I would go with 19x8.5 in the front and 19x10 in the rear.

I ordered a set of 18's today from discountwheelwarehouse.com. they told me that they have only two wheels that will fit the proper offset for the 05. The one I got is the Helo Sparks. The other is a Eagle 168 ( just a plain crome 5-star). The wheel comes with Faulkin z rated tires included in the package.

Check what size tires they are sending you.
They had the Falken's listed as 225's.
And that's the widest they offered on any of the tire packages for that wheel.
Wheels look great, BTW. Wish they came in black.
Nice site. Thanks.

19 inch tires are pretty much the most expensive things you can buy short of a 22 or bigger. There just isnt enough demand for them. In my own opinion the 20's fit the 05 just fine. Check out the BFG poster of the blue 05 mustang. If you dont want 20's just because they are "20's bling bling yo" stick with 18's. I agree 19's would be a good choice if you can find a tire at a decent price but in all honesty I dont see the point.

It depends on the look you are going for. Old school muscle cars all had small wheels with big tires. Modern cars all have huge wheels (3D Carbon went so far to put 23s on their car if I am not mistaken).

I personally think the 18s look too stock and further emphasize the large mass of the car. It will be 20s for me.

But, if you go with large wheels, you NEED to lower the car, or it will look like crap. Also, don't worry too much about getting the same OD of the OEM tires, but get a good sidewall (preferably 40 series tires). The tires will be larger OD, so it will affect your speedo/mileage. Nothing to worry about, just be aware.

The thinner sidewall and lower ride will affect both handling and ride. So, if performance is your game, go lightweight 18s.

P.S. I am 90% sure the BFG ad was photochopped (front calipers are in the wrong location and lighting is a little off), so don't use that as an example. The Saleen's have 20's though, and they look good. They use 275/35ZR20 front and 275/40ZR20 rear tires. Plenty of sidewall, and they fill up the wheel wells.

Dont forget this picture! 20's! Looks amazing imo!

The setup pictured is a 20"x9" wheel in the front with a 255/30zr20 Pirelli P Zero Rossos and 20"x10.5" in the rear with 285/30zr20 Rossos. This fitment sits flush and looks very aggressive, but requires no vehicle modifications
