1966 2V 4SPD **Updates 12/9/07**
I wanted to start a thread to follow the progress of our 1966 coupe.
Here's a bit of background on the car:
-The car has an original 289 2V 4SPD drivetrain.
-My Father purchased this car in 1968 used with one owner and 8K miles.
-The car has never been wrecked.
-This car was originally silver and has been painted four different colors.
-I was brought home from the hospital as an infant in this car in 1975.
-This car has moved from neighbors garage to friends garage to neighbors garage more times than I can recount over my lifetime, until finally finding a home recently in my garage where upgrades will begin.
-The car now is in in stage 1 of a Father / Son Restoration project and who knows where it will end.
We are hoping for a cruiser/weekend racer that will be reliable and very streetable.
The rear suspension has been updated with mid-eye 5 leafs.
The front suspension is awaiting a final purchase, but so far it looks like a full Open Tracker setup. The 289 has full length headers and 2.5" piping with a full exhaust. The remainder of the car is BONE stock.
Any help on the build would be appreciated.
Step 1 is new Wheels and tires... which I should have pics of soon.
Anyway, here is the starting point:
As you can see, there is much work ahead.
