If you are gentle with it the rear end will hold up bit i would swap it for a V 8 5 lug though .The 4 lug spindles are weak so they should be swapped out to 5 lug also
Okay so I would be safe to leave the rear end until it goes? And then replace It from here... and what about just putting new parts on my straight six set up to make it a little stronger
Thats what our project car is....a 6 cyl. that someone had done a 5 lug change with a 8" rearend with 5 lug drums on the front. They left the 6cyl front springs in so it sits lower in the front BUT if you hit dip in the road it will get jumpy because of the weaker springs.I am looking at a front spring up grade and disc brake set up and needed to find out what type spindles I have. My thoughts are that some one could have resized the inner and outter bearings to make the 5 lug hub work. So part number is the way to go... C5DA-3107-B is a V-8 spindle and C3DA-3107-A is 6banger.Hope this helps.
