Hello,
The problem isn't really the spring. I already figured out how to install the spring without removing the front fender. But my question is about the flat steel part that the spring rides on which keeps the door from swinging comletely open. Is there a bushing or a spacer that goes on that small pin that the flat part pivots on? (On the outer door-side of the hinge, not the inner side of the hinge). I know there are brass bushings for the other 2 long pins on the hinges.
The reason why I ask is because I hammered the pin down, but it seemed to stop before the head of the pin even came close to touching that flat part. This results in excessive vertical play of that flat part, which could cause the spring to pop out.
Thanks for any help,
Carl
