Hello ladies and gentleman some of you may remember me some may not.
heres the story it isnt mustang related by any means but it is ford and 429 related so i thought id stretch the brains of a few on here.
I have a 1977.5 f250 4x4 351m 4spd pickup, the engine is tired and well......... is a 351m so i pulled a 429 out of a 69 tbird and its on its way to the machine shop, it is a 1969 429 2bbl and the build will be stock except it will have a 4bbl edelbrock performer intake manifold and maybe headers it depends what fits in there.. and I will be running 91 octain fuel
anyways to the questions I have.
In 1969 they were endulging in the points ignition and I am just not interested, I have lots to choose from distributer wise for the later (electronic ignition) 460 (1975ish and above untill they got into efi in the 80's) but these were tottaly different engines with lower compression and retarded timing ignition and cam im sure. so my questions are.
stock for that 1969 429 what was the:
initial timing?
total advance?
at what rpm was the advance all in by?
I will buy a new electronic (duraspark) distributer that is close to the stock specs or recurve it accordingly.
thanks
