i have found out that i have a block in my car from that is a 1972 engine block # D20E-6015-AB i was wondering what is the main differance in the older blocks compared to the newer blocks, are they any stronger? i know the heads and all the insides have been changed but do you know how much horsepower these blocks are good for??? any help will be great!

Horse power the block can handle all depends on how you build it. At my local race track I have seen early 302 engines built that put out all but 750 hp calculated by there track times. these engines have aftermarket mains and stud girdles and much machine work. I wont get into the differences of a 289 and 302 blocks because I posted that once and no one believed me.

thanks for the info im going to look through the reciept that the guy i got the car from and see what all he had done, i know he spent around $2,000 on doing the block and having it stroked to a 306 not to mention all the $ he put into it for the rest of the assembly
