I don't know if this is still true with fox body cars but old stuff have a spring between the door panel and the door body at the window crank mechanism, early fox mustangs had that round plastic thingy on the outside of the door panel like mentioned above.

Alrighty, minus minor fitment things, she's on the road. Still a bunch of issues to fix, but she's driveable.

Will be posting lots of pics later today!

Here's something for yall to laugh at. Had a vac leak I couldn't chase down. Would have been pulling my hair out if I had any...

Then I realized that my hissing, non-functional brake booster was a HUGE vacuum leak...

Car runs like new now.

--Also--

Just a heads up:

You have enough of this stuff

That you can edit your own thread titles etc...
It's useful for a [Progress Thread] because you can update it to whatever you're working on, if you like.

I sent you a copy of my custom set of carb rebuild instructions.

Make sure to follow them to the letter

You might need a couple things from Autozone.

She's back on the road. Needs the suspension done, but I did take out the spring spacers in the front and now she sits nicely. Needs a bunch on interior stuff done still, but very driveable. Tach still doesn't work, but that's something to play with. I am strongly considering a manual swap. I just don't like automatics (no hate on the C4).

Someone on here has four speed for it for almost free (talked about trashing it) but I think it is in Florida if I remember correctly.
Here it is.

SOLD Thread 'SROD 4 speed transmission 1983.. $25 SOLD'

Mar 30, 2025
This is the original SROD 4 speed from my 1983 mustang... As far as I know it works fine... It includes the shifter handle.... 139,000 miles on it.. I removed the side plate and it looks like new inside..... I replaced it with a TKX....
Located in lakeland, Florida.... $25....
NO shipping, pickup only........

Actually trying to buy that SROD off the guy, maybe not for this one, but I have a 73 that needs a trans and that may work till I can afford a TKX. lol

The 78 is has had its gas cap replaced and the expansion tank for the fuel system patched (plastic welder). Gonna drive her to work today.

She needs shocks pretty badly, beyond that she drives well! Gotta fix the AC though, its starting to get rough here in GA.

Most of my coworkers don't pay attention, but those that do like her. My boss has a 66 Vette and loves it.
