Has anyone ever seen this car? I was doing a search and ran across this on How Stuff Works but can't find any other pics of it.

It's obviously a 4 eye (1980) but you can see the quarter glass, it really hints at the future of the Fox cars.

On topic: That is the only picture I have ever seen of that car and I've seen it for years in different books.

The boys at 4eyedpride hooked me up with this pic but not much else.

One guy said the side windows were hinged at the top and came out a couple inches at the bottom...if you look at the top of the doors you can see the hinge. Also he said the wheels had a clear plastic cover at the tire bead to help with aerodynamics.

Not all of them. But most yeah. I'd love to have a red McLaren Capri vert. That'd be sick.

The production cars yes but there were also McLaren Capris that weren't as well as many McLaren racecars.

Announced in late 1980, the McLaren Mustang teamed Ford Design with
McLaren Performance of Formula 1 racing fame. Just 250 were built, all
with turbo-four engines featuring a competition-style variable boost control.
Power was again provided by the turbo-four, but it was newly fortified with a variable boost control having a range of 5-11 psi vs. the regular engine's fixed 5 psi. Rated output was 175 horsepower at 10 psi, a big jump over the 132-horse stock mill. A $25,000 price tag and virtual hand construction limited McLaren production to just 250 units (including the prototype), but at least they were for sale.
