Fox 1983 T-top Coupe - $1000 - New Buffalo Butt Beer

I picked up a decent black carpet for 50 dollars. Pressure washed it, let it dry on the sun for a day. Smelled like a new car. Like I said you will need to trim it a tad.
I'm used to cutting sht up! SN-95 seats would be pretty sweet.

How do they mount, to the old seat brackets?

I'm late to this party. LOL Nice find Sir!! Can't wait to see what you do with it. If I could find a t-top 4 eye like that in my area I'd jump on it in a heart beat. We have an 89 coupe roller sitting behind the shop right now that I could get CHEAP. But,,,, I'm getting lazy or something because I just see a whole lotta work when I look at it. LOL

Stop all the talkin bout Rum and beer! I'm out,,, now I gotta run the store.;)

Believe me, I see a whole lotta work too.

I'm at that golden age that I want (and need) to do this now. It's really a most excellent thing for me.

I don't have twenty more years left to be really vibrant (so to speak). No offense to @jrichker . I'm at the perfect age I think to do this. I'm not so old that physically I can't, and yet I've been through enough sht in my life to think this is better than most things.

So, I will make the '83 my best than I can do, not that my '86 is scab work, it's just been rushed at times.

Are you going to do the grey hood stripe and accents on this car too? It looks good on Doby lol
Oh no Chris, I've got the coolest idea that I'm not going to tell you about. Yes, there will be a hood stripe, no, it won't be grey. Technology is a cool thing in paint too, I've only seen it once what I intend to do, I'll say that much.

It'll be that way on the window mouldings and the rest of the trim though.

Ok,...I've done my damnest to discourage you from taking your eye off the ball.

I'll throw one more thing at you.

This car,.....

hurricaneside_zpse9219eed.webp

Became this car.

How much cooler would this car be if I'd kept this?

This car is Mike v1.0. cir 1991.

If I'd kept mt "eye on the ball" this car would be the platform for everything to follow. The actual drawing board for 25 years of Mike mods.

You have Doby. A solid platform. In essence, your v1.0. Now you're gonna dilute version that with another.

Ok. I get that.

There were 8 cars to follow this one between 1991 and now, not including the Monster.

I diluted my creativity by spreading my resources, and creativity 12 ways to never.

So,...You're gonna build an "opus" then.
(aka,.......masterpiece)

If that's the case,.....words like Windsor, and Coyote have no place in any current masterpiece design/plan/build sheet.

The is only one word that'll make any statement of achievement by the time RaDoby gets built...

Ecoboost.

I'd imagine that there should be a ECU to control the 3.7L (is that what size it is?) V6 by the time you get Rustyassed Doby to a stage where the engine starts to need consideration.....an aluminum V6 that makes 500 HP and similar torque starting at 1500 RPM while getting 35+ MPG would be an interesting build.

(after all,....If you're gonna funnel money into an additional project,..why not just back the bank-balance dump truck up to your garage and just dump a whole metric ton of that green junk in there?)

If you knuckle under, and do the same stuff that's been done already so many times it doesn't even raise an eyebrow anymore,.....there'll be mikehell to pay.

There now,.......I feel better.

Hey @Noobz347 ? I haven't heard from you yet, what do you think of the '83?

Heh... Yeah, I been tied up a lot lately. I sneak in, take care of the various alerts and zoom out again. Who knew summer would be this crazy?

To the question: :chin

As a shade-tree job, all I see is hate... but... when you are done with it... There aren't many Fox bodies that I'd take over an 86 in equal conditions. The 83 one on the short list just be hind the 82. The fact that you found a T-top to boot? That kid just found the perfect dad.

Find, build, or do what you do to finish that thing off with the GT hood. I love that hood AND the grill.

If I hadn't already seen the kind of work that you do, I'd have said, "Meh... another poor bastard just bit off more than he could chew".

I can't wait to see this thread Dave.

A Coyote swap would be sweet. Expensive as hell but sweet.

Something like that though? I'd probably do an HCI, long tubes, and stroke it to 327 or 331. It would pull hard and cruise efficiently. Def manual shift. Highway geared.

Turbo+Coyote=:banana::banana:
Backed by a T56/mini tubbed rear with as much tire as you can fit!
That is my dream build. That 86 is coming out damn near perfect and if you're going to "better" it,well...I'm going to have to change my shorts often.

Now if you're going to do a similiar to the 86 build...I still will be investing in tissues:fap:

You know what I see Dave.....potential. That's the things that some guys just don't get. It's LEGGOs for adults. (My largest problem in life is that I see a lot of cars that could be cool). It's a chance to exercise our skills, learning ability and ingenuity. The most F'd up of us are those who cant learn something new. Heck, I've flipped several cars in the past. Nothing worthy of gas Monkey, but I repaired, drove for a bit and regained my investment in time. Guess what I'm saying is that you have a car that you can make money in "AS IS", or put your personal touch on and make it unique in some way. No doubt your paint skills are good, but what about your troubleshooting or patience? Guess what I'm saying is that if it excites you, and you can gain satisfaction or money from it.....your never too old to enjoy life.
