Ordered a 302 from Blueprint. Should be here in a couple of weeks. I've followed this forum as a non member for some time.
Have found a lot of good advice. the reason I joined you all.
What has driven me crazy is the advice on tire sizes, and wheel sizes.
Please someone tell me if a 275/40/17 will fit on the rear of a 1983 GLX Convertable?

That tire size will fit...but it all depends on the wheel offset and backspacing.

Do you have a wheel in mind?

I have been advised 9” on the rear, and 8” on the front.
Just been confused on the tire size conversations I’ve read.

Also depends on the ride height. I have 285/40 17 on 11" Cobra replica wheels. Flipped quads and stock rear springs. Only get minor rub on the outer edge if I turn in to a steep lot at an angle. But all other driving conditions, I've never had an issue.

Thank you John
Surprised me that there were no quad shocks
On this car..
When I was having the frame connectors welded in I looked everything over.
There was nothing there to even have quad shocks.
I really appreciate your input.
Been driving me crazy about the size for the rear end.

If it matters, and it probably doesn't, I've worked on '85 and '86 models and the '85 didn't have the quad shocks. Still a slapper bar.

The engine I’M installing only has a little over
300hp. I think everything will hold up to it.

I looked over the control arms.
They looked pretty strong.
