Can anybody tell me what years will fit for my 1984 hatchback latch (aka the unicorn latch)? The ones I see are listed for the 87-up. Much appreciated.

Would need to see a pic of your latch to compare. 81-86 has it's own hatch striker, but they look the same Could be just a thread pitch change in 1987 (ford went metric in a lot of places). Might be worth it to pop it out and compare. It's possible the electrical connection differs, in which case you can always cut a pigtail off and rewire. lots of electrical connectors changed between 1986 and 1987

Left is the latch out of my '88. Safe to say that is 87-91. One on the right is a 92-93 latch. They are different and not interchangeable without wiring changes, which is one of my bigger gripes when folks incorrectly list all fox parts for sale as 87-93.

Thanks Mike. My problem is that the latch was gone when I purchased my 84. I guess what I am wondering is whether the 87-91 latch will work in my 84?

87-91 model, just make sure you use the matching striker.
PM me if interested.

Do you have a photo of the wiring connector for the latch? That’s the only thing I’m thinking would be different.
