Recently bought a 1985 GT with CFI still all setup (non-running). Going to do a carb swap but would like to keep the ECU computer wiring harness intact, since I'm assuming CFI ones are rare.

I have it all removed but there seems to be a bundle of wire still connected somewhere that's not pulling out of the firewall. Screen shot shows removal of main computer connector and black solenoid. Still have that wrapped set of 5 wires (red+yellow+3 white-ish) not budging.

Any idea where these connect to? Worst case I'll just cut them off. Oh also, any trick to keep the firewall boot intact so I can put back in the firewall and plug?

Can you not follow them behind the firewall? Been a loooong time since I pulled the CFI out of my T-Bird but my recollection was I did not cut a single wire and did not pull the dash.

Also, this is a really good site for the 79-86 cars:

Yeah it was... I haven't been able to get on the forum since their site collapsed a few months ago...

It almost feels like that bundle of wires goes up into/behind the dash. Haven't removed anything besides the passenger kick panel. Can feel it doesn't go down to where the computer was, almost up a bit and across.

And yeah all the info I've come across so far was you can just pull it right out - ground, computer connector and solenoid.

Are you serious? You still haven't been able to get on there? I go there daily.
