I have a 1989 Mustang GT Hatchback that really needs a new hatch due to rust. I have found a rust free hatch about 200 miles from me, but its from a 1985 Mustang LX. Will this hatch fit my car? I need to replace it before it gets painted this Spring. Thanks.

I have been told they are the same but can't guarantee it. Surely someone on here has done it or tried to do it. I'll let them tell ya for sure. Good luck

all hatch's should be interchangeable. the lx wing does not have the third brakelight though till 86. Post at foureyedpride.com for more info, but im 99% sure it'll work.

It will definetly bolt right on but you will need to drill the holes to mount your GT wing if you are using it and you need to run the wires for the 3rd brake light

I can do that...well I guess I will make the 159mi run to go get it....its hard to find a rust-free hatch....Im scared to use the Cervini fiberglass rear hatch because Im scared it will crack and the weight loss in the rear will hurt my traction. Thanks.

I put the cervinis hatch on my 83' and went with a lexan rear window the weight of the hatch without the window is quite light the window is where the weight comes in..as we all know to offset a new mod another mod follows so with the lack of rear weight in mind I opted to move the battery to the trunk spare tire well ....I would go with the cervinis hatch and stock rear window glass, youll keep the weight and lose the rust thats so common in the lower edge above the liscence plate
