stock speakers

I had an '86 gt, the speakers were garbage and the car was in good shape. The cones on those speakers are made of paper, most of the speaker is likely deteriorated after many years of being baked in summer heat. Pull the dash pad, get some new 3.5" speakers for under $50 and you'll be much happier with sound quality. Rear speaker are special size at 6"x8", can be ordered online or perhaps bought at best buy or curcuit city. Don't expect alot of bass from these speakers though.

I also had an 86GT. The speakers were, infact, made of paper. Your new stereo is going to blow them out immediately.

Speakers are the most important part of a stereo system. Buy new ones.
Period.

Otherwise, you are driving a race car in a 25MPH neighborhood.
