My 1989 Mustang GT 5.0, 5 speed, is a car I've owned for over 10 years. Until recently it ran fine but started with the engine missing over 2800-3000 RPM's. I did a tuneup myself which included Wires, spark plugs,rotor, dist cap with no improvement.
I then took it to a Ford dealer and they replaced everything I had already done and replaced the throttle position sensor all this was done for $1,500.00. I test drove it and the same problem was there immediately went back to the Ford dealer and was told to leave it again but I did not want to leave it there for another week and a pretty good argument also being told that their mechanics had not worked one the 5.0 engine since it is so old I gave up and took it back home before probably going to jail.
Any ideas as to the problem. It also has a new fuel pump and gas filter.
