I hope I am posting in the right forum, anyways, my front outer brake pad blacking plate is scraping the inside of my new wheels! I am wondering is anyone had this issue? In particular, I am wondering

1. is it safe to grind the backing plate (the hole where the calliper bolt slides through)? I know on the 79-82 callipers, the out pad had no such hole at all, and it was fine..

2. are there any other calliper/pad options out there?

I would REALLY like to keep this wheel, and it just seems there should be something that can be done about this annoying part of the backing plate!

Would really need pictures to best ID the area you would grind to see if it was a non load-bearing area and safe to do so.

Alternative is hardened studs and a small spacer.

I can't get a pic of my car at the moment. The area I'd like to grind are the holes/loops in the backing plates shown here:

Mustang Front Brake Pads - Stock Replacement (87-93) 5.0

The loops don't bear any load. The calliper bolts go through these loops, and this only serves to keep the pads from sliding around too much. So as long as I leave enough of the loop for this purpose, it should be fine?

I've had to hammer the clips down on my pads each time I've ran draglites.
