I am looking at buying a 1990 fox body Mustang GT. I have a few questions regarding the car. The first thing is the oil pan has a crack from the k member. How could the crack have gotten there? Bad engine mounts? The second thing is the steering is soft as in unresponsive. Possibly air in the steering setup or maybe a leak? Thanks for listening.

Crack In the oil pan? this could have happened if someone had the engine out and damaged it then or they hit debris in the road. Unless the motor mounts were completely wiped out I think it would be hard for the motor to come in contact with the k member. As far as the steering if the suspension is all stock and the steering components are worn it’s normal to feel unresponsive. Those are all things you will have to replace/upgrade as you go. You should be able to visibly see any leaks, check around the pump and hoses to the rack.
