i can try to get a pic of the car i dont know if he will let me take a pic of the engine or not. and this is not bs,and im not going to switch cars on him. if i lose then i guess it will teach me a lesson and im not backing out im a man of my word this guy doesnt even know how much psi hes runing or how big of a shot of nos he has he paid someone to put the $h!t on his car. i might not have the fastest car but atleast im out there working on my OWN car and just not paying someone to do it for me

First.... this whole story smells of but i'm playing along with the idea its not. Search youtube and streetfire. I really thought a Sc'd miata would run some nice 1/4 times, but they only seem to run what a stock 5.0 does with a good driver. Not to give you a false idea, but they dont run what i think they would. Add some nitrous and you're in trouble.

Second..... Of course he knows what psi he's running and how big of a shot of N20 (not nos!!!) he's running. don't kid yourself. he's playing you like a fiddle....
also, if you're so proud of what you've done to your car, why risk it against a car that has big potential to beat you if it's for real, but you really don't know what it's got?

Third... anyone know what kinda power a miata can handle before it goes boom? saw a vid of a miata (on the juice) beating a skyline in the 1/4 until it almost caught up, then the miata made quite the smoke show with a blown engine.....

Don't be stupid. I'd rather look like a tool than give up my car for a stupid bet. Swallow your pride, keep your car.

You know, if there is a shred of truth to this story, he could win. The import doesn't ALWAYS win.

I didn't bother reading this whole mess...

Unless this meeaduh is sporting a small block v-8 conversion with boost or nitrous then he's PWN3D. Either that or the original poster cannot drive.

If this is a true race, and not BS as a few think it maybe. ( I am undecided if its BS or not )
Then its weight you want to lose that is cheapest, since you have no big budget to build the car up.
And if your diff gears are really 2.73, try and buy a used set of gears even from an auto wrecker even, that will just be needed for the one race, to get you off the line faster, and see if anyone has stickier rear tires you can borrow for the day to get it to hook up as well.

But strip all the extra seats, you just need a drivers seat,....carpet is weight, etc.
Unhook anything not needed and get it out of the car, and race with just enough gas in tha tank to get to the finish line.

Go and practice launching to get the quickest times you can off the line....so many races are lost due to poor driving....you want to leave with a good reaction time, and practice how to leave on the ragged edge of excess wheel spin, but not actually just sending the tires up in smoke......abusing the clutch a little is likely neccesary to get a good launch.

Good luck

Gonna definately have to change your screen name if and when you lose your car. Imagine losing your pride and joy to someone who has never even turned a wrench on a car!

Dumb race.

i believe you man, but yeah just for sh:ts and giggles, post some pics.

this is the absolute stupidest race i've ever heard of in my life. racing a blown/n2o miata one HALF mile for pinks. not saying you're gonna lose, but if your car means ANYTHING to you at all, you wouldn't risk losing it to some t00l who can't even work on his own car, and all because you're too prideful to change the bet. that's a little rediculous man. Makes for good entertainment for me though, so good luck and race on! :SNSign:

out of everything, your rear gears are gonna hurt you the most; not being able to get out of the hole quickly. like everyone else has been saying, get some gears, strip the car COMPLETELY, i'd run a belt on the crank and alternator ONLY (just for the race, if need be then the waterpump too) and spray the living SH:T out of it

i say 3.73s. i have 4.10's and i love em, but for a half mile race on an n2o car (you said you have nitrous right?) 3.73's would be better, imo. and running a short belt won't hurt your ps or smog, you just won't have power steering or smog.

the only advantage you'd have with 2.73's over 3.73's is a higher top speed. but you're not racing top speed and with 2.73's you'll be a dog out the hole.
