6 SB titles is great and is enough to be the most in the NFL but compared to the new york yankees with 26 championships and the boston celtics with 17 titles it is not much..

the salary cap is fairly recent.. the nfl just has never had a super dynasty like the yanks of the 1940's and 1950's or the celts of the 1960's

Most unfortunately, the NFL salary cap may be in danger for the 2010 season and beyond. Teams like the Cows and Skins will be able to acquire just about anyone they can afford.

That would be a shame.

Comparing baseball/basketball and football are kinda hard when you only play a handful of games in a year as opposed to 80 +.

And the salary cap is what makes sports competitive. Look at the NHL now and the even the NBA to some extent. Then look at baseball. Yeah you might get a team like Tampa Bay to sneak in there for a year or so but after that forget it. Those who were good players end up in Boston, LA or a NY team

I think the Steelers would actually benefit from no cap, since they are the real "America's Team". You can see it in how full the stands on away games are of Steelers fans. That being said, I would hate for them not to ink a new deal to keep the cap in place.

C'mon. You know that the Cows are "America's Team" if you watch BSPN or the NFL Network. :gag:

very true.. in baseball a team like tampa has a very small window to get it done where the red sox and yanks and teams like that have a much larger window because of the deep pockets of the region they play in.

America's team was created by NFL films and went to Art Rooney and said this is what we want to call your team. He said "no thank you, We are Pittsburgh's team." So I think it's cool there is no soap opera involved with the Steelers.

Take that for what you will. You know the Steelers have the largest fan base in the NFL.

I'm sure the Steelers are up there but I'd bet there are more Cow fans across the country. In fact, the # of Cow fans goes up and down according to their current record.
I'm delighted they have not won a playoff game since 1997.

It depends on what you go by. If you go buy tickets sold at away games and home games, season ticket holders and all that stuff the Steelers got it on lock. But you could go and say what about jersey sales and team gear then yeah I'm sure the bigger markets got that one wrapped up. But I ask Dallas Fans, Do you have a Cowboys bar in every state and 25 other countries?

Yes I saw more than one terrible towel at Obama's inoguration. Go Figure

Weeping from joy because they became the most dominate franchise in NFL history?
