Read 5 power rankings, get 5 different results. Most of these asswipes would do no better than the SN members in this thread, except 5.0kid and his Broncos at #1.

It's really very stupid moving the Giants off of 1st place until they lose a game at least, huh? The Cow D looked pretty bad on MNF and they should have taken a hit in rankings.

Why is that stupid. To rank someone at #1 just because they tripped and fell into a SB victory LAST YEAR would be stupid. They rank them on who they think is best, this isn't the BCS buddy.

I'm still surprised the Giants were #6 coming into this season on ESPN. I do think they should be #1 until they lose a game since they beat the best team we've seen in quite a while in the SB. I'm surprised people have the Pats as high as they do, I figured they'd be throwing them waaayy down at the bottom.

I'm thinking about buying a few tickets.. Couldn't hurt to try

Bob Sanders out 4-6 weeks at least with a high ankle sprain.. and they'll probably go in and have a "cleanup" arthroscopic surgery on his knee while he's out. The injuries are racking up for the Colts now, wtf? Hopefully he doesn't lose a step or isn't out very long. Is this a year for injuries or what.. it's getting ridiculous.

Eh its a repeat of last season. Oh well its football what are you gonna do. Id rather have Sanders, Clark, and some lineman out than have Manning or Wayne go down.

No doubt. That would be awful, not only for the Colts but for the whole league.

I don't think the Giants should be ranked number 1, they aren't the best in the NFL why should they rank Number 1? Until they beat teams like the cowboys, steelers, or other powerhouse teams then we'll talk.

It's hard to rank teams at the beginning of the season but of you're going to do it, you have to have some method. I'm thinking that some creedence should be given to the Superbowl winner until they show some weakness that would lead most fans to believe that another team has proven in games played they are better. Does that make sence?

Maybe the loss of Strahan & Osi weigh on the rankings? Perhaps the Cow's 13 pro-bowlers pull more ranking weight than their terrible defensive performance on Monday night?

The Giants have given up 20 points on D in 2 games. That's pretty damn good. We will have to wait for head to head vs. Cows to see what the "real"power rankings are.

Redline: You HAVE to rank the Pats up there still. Yes, they lost their best player but the team is still very good. I believe they will again win their division even with the Bills looking good right now.

ANother line of thought: If you don't think the Giants are the best in the NFL, who do you think should be ranked #1 right now? Why? Are you thinking Dallas? Even with the Eagles coming so close to beating them?

That's how I think it should be done. I mean, as much as I dislike the Giants, they beat the best team in football in the SB and deserve to be ranked #1 for it until they get taken down (which might not happen for a few weeks).

I think the Pats should stay up in the top 10 because I still think they're better than anyone in that division without Brady. They should win it, like you said.. and I would be happy with a single playoff win for Cassell; I don't expect a SB appearance or anything, but a playoff win would be nice to have without Brady just to prove that it can be done.

power ranking is and always has been just bs until about 8 weeks deep into the season then you can actually make a judgement on what teams are capable of.

Very true. And just when you think they have it down some what, some teams begin to slip and others rise.

Mrvax i guess your right. I didn't look at it like that.

I was thinking the Cows and possibly Eagles are better teams. If the g-men played them right now i'd definitely worry. Don't forget they are prone to those few crap games where they loose to teams in which they are supposed to beat.

I don't know why the Steelers let Burress go. They should have paid him. He would still have the best QB of that draft class on his side too.

Back in 2004, Burress was considered by many teams to be not much more than a PITA and drop prone. When he negotiated his 1st contract with the Giants, there were few if any teams interested in him. Being he turned out to be better than Ward, it would have made sence to keep him.

You act like he was a nobody before the Giants? He had more receiving yard with the Steelers in a single season than he ever has with the Giants. Plus Ben is better under center.

I thought Burress wanted out? I remember him bitching that he never got any receptions because the steelers are a running team.

But yeah, I wished they woulda hung on to him ever since he left, he was always good.

Wow! That's really nice.
Manning to Burress is the NFL's #1 QB to WR touchdown combo from 2005 through 2007.

He really did have a bad attitude when he first came over in '05. He really turned his act around though.

I don't put any stock into power rankings. More often then not, they're wrong.
