1992 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible K-Member Drop

Hello everyone:

In the next few weeks I will be dropping the K-Member out of my car in order to clean it and paint it. I was wondering if anyone could provide a tech article or a step-by-step on the best/safest way to do this. I was thinking I would support the engine with an engine hoist from the top and put a jack underneath it from the bottom. If someone would be willing to tell me the proper steps and order of those steps to remove the K-Member, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!! Thanks guys!!!

You got it down. I recently did this a couple days back. Put the Jack underneath the ball joint and loosened the three strut bolts up top and lowered everything together. Then I did the oter side. Once that's complete I put the Jack in the middle of the k member and unbolted the 8 bolts. You'll prob have to take the other braces off for the vert that make an x. You'll have to disemble the rotors and stuff to put it back in. Take the calipers off first
