Folks have been running those 2.3 and 2.5 motors for years in dirt track cars. If you're going to do all that bushing work you might as well buy an 8.8 5.0 rear...it'll bolt right in and can handle more power. The v8 spindles are better...pluss to go 5 lug all you need are Lincoln rotors. That'll give you some money to save getting the adapter kit and a master cylinder (sn95) for the 8.8 disc brake conversion. If you use sn95 rear it'll push the wheels further out in the back.... You can do it...one part at a time.
If you plan to upgrade and keep, IMO it would def be worth having an 8.8. So long as you're not in a hurry, I'm pretty sure you could find one locally for pretty cheap. Pull one off something that is 5-lug already and half the battle is done.
You gotta pull the thing anyway for the bushings....
i just ordered a new 2-din dvd for the car. on sale for 30! lol. i want to move the hvac controls to the bottom and radio above. but i need a trim piece for it that uses factory hvac controls. any ideas?
also just did the egr delete on it,. has a little better bottom end now. i will post pics tomorow
fixed my fuel gauge today. it has been empty since i bought it. but the cost of a new sender was to much so after some research i found that the anti-slosh units go bad easy. so i fixed it for free!!!!!!
i went to the local pick n pull yard and grabed 2 new units. from a 93 taurus and a 94 taurus wagon. the both work in my car! cost of repaire? $2 to enter the yard plus 30mins to pull both cars apart. please try it before wasting ur money!
It is possible but really not worth the effort. The cast pistons usually don't survive very long. Most folks will just say to find a donor turbo coupe. (I used an 88 in my turbo swap). You can buy the right parts to build your own but you would be money ahead with a donor.
