1993 Mustang LX 5.0

Hey guys - hope you are all doing well. I am a owner of a 2006 GT - but had a question in regard to my girlfriends 1993 Mustang LX GT Automatic.

This car has been sitting in her driveway for about 7 months - hasn't been touched.

We took the car around the block yesterday for the first time. The car went into reverse fine and then into drive fine.

We came back to her hoouse and attempted to put the car into park. We are unable too. It seems something broke.

The automatic shifter does not seem to be engadging gears anymore. It moves up and down freely without doing anything.

Currently - the car is stuck in drive.

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the cable popped off.

where is the cable located? Is it accessible from the inside the car or is it underneath?

Under the car. I beleive the linkage is on the drivers side of the trans near the exhaist pipe, but it could be pass side.


BTW...it's either LX or GT, not both. But that's just splitting hairs.

The cable probably came off the trans or the shifter on your lx gt mustang.

OK - I found the issue. The linkage rusted off the shifter. I was able to get it back on - but it will fall off again.

I love the older body style stangs. However, I am not a guru with the models
