1995 GT sitting funny

I went out to move my Stang yesterday before it was submerged in the ever flowing water here. I noticed that car was sitting funny......The passenger side rear is approx 2.5-3" shorter than the driver side. The driver's side rear seems to have about a 2.5" gap to the top of the tire while the passenger side has less than a 1/2". Anyone ever had this happen before? I am pretty sure the body is not twisted. The doors close fine...all body lines seem straight and even. I do not have any experience working on the suspension of these yet.....could it be a bad spring or shock?

I am open for some suggestions........

Well, springs control the ride height...do you have aftermarket springs on the car?

Do not know honestly. I was looking through the wheel...the water the car was sitting in was too high to look under it. The springs are red....not sure they are stockers. Is it possible someone did a botched job trying to lower it by heating them? I have had the car for about a year....have not drove it much.

Is there only one shock per side?

Yeah, one shock per side.

You might see a smaller shock higher up, but that is a quad shock used to help rear end geometry.

The stock shocks are not red, so you have some aftermarket shocks...probably Eibach's.

When you get a chance, you can probably find a name or part number on the spring.

Unfortunately, a botch-job is a possibility.

I would start with doing a good visual inspection on both sides to see if anything looks broken or "botched".

Anyone have any scuba gear?? lol....we are flooding out. I just had half my basement sitting in 2-3 inches of water. Unfortunately I can not get under the car right now...but I am going to be putting on an X pipe shortly...when I do, I will just support the whole car on jacks and see if I get a better idea of whats going on.....btw...I am sorry the springs are red....the shocks are black.

If you have had a strut go bad from sitting so long it'll sag aswell; although its most important that the car is on a level surface. Hopefully all that water isn't causing your driveway to cave in spots; erode etc.

I appreciate the response. There is no real level surface here...unfortunately. My house sits lower than the street and my drove slopes toward my house...:/

The car stays the same way even though it has been moved. One of my front tires is really low however.

I think the shocks are still pretty decent in the back. The car does not over bounce when pushing down on the trunk.

I'd say it's the strut just from guessing. Had this problem on another car of mine years ago. But all problems differ.

I have stock springs and as far as I know the shocks/struts are to. I havent changed them only having the car a year. My car is doing the exact same thing. There is a 1-1/2 difference from driver rear to passenger rear. The driver side sits higher. Im not worried when I get springs, control arms, schocks/struts it should be gone. I need to check car fax to see if car was rear ended anyway. Everybody suggestions are great.
