I am looking into buying another Mustang.I only have enough money to get a 94-98 Mustang GT and put about $5000 worth of mods.Should I go with the 5.0 or the 4.6 and do a PI Head swap.

In that body style. I would either get the 5.0 or a Cobra.

5.0 - cheap to modify. Plus if you already have a modular mustang, it would be cool to mod a pushrod also.

as a new owner of a modular and king of low budget mods i would go with the 5.0. 4.6s are great all-round performing mustangs but they resemble an athlete who smokes- They are good, but not as good as they could be. 96-97 mustangs suffer from breathing problem cuz the heads and intake manifold sux! those two swaps will kill a good chunk of your 5k mod budget. So i would say 5.0

ditto...... 5.0 would be my choice most likely.....get a clean straight stock 5.0 and go with H/C/I and still have a good 3k left....provided you do the work yourself.....this will put you at 300rwhp+ depending on the setup.

i have a 95 5.0, its much cheaper to mod, don't get a vert and don't get an automatic, if you do you'll have to spend extra money trying to equal it out to the 5 speed, get a 95 5.0 5 speed, do gears, u/d pulleys, exhaust (headers, midpipe, catback), cold air, advance ur timing to 14 degrees and run higher octane (91 - 93), new intake manifold: trick flow street heat or edelbrock performer 5.0 and if you go with with heads and a cam, i would suggest the trick flow track heat or edelbrock performer rpm, get a pro-m 77mm MAF or 80 mm, fuel regulator, if u do heads/cam get larger injectors, u can do all that for way under 5,000 if u install it urself, should put u close to 300 rwhp if not 300 rwhp, and well into the 12's

with the mods in my signature i've beaten an 04 gt w/ offroad x pipe (auto with 3.55 gears) by about a car, and i lost by about half a car to a 96 gt with 99 motor swap, headers, xpipe, catback, u/d pulleys, 3.73 gears

so i would say thats pretty good for a 5.0L rated at 215 hp stock, with 120,000 miles and a few bolt-ons

The reason I ask is because I know someone selling a 95 5.0 for cheap with only 60K original miles. All stock down to the paper filter.

You can find a 94-95 5.0 for less than 8500. My friend found a 94 with 35k miles for like 5500
