1999 Cobra Battery/ Starting Problems

Ok here's the problem the car will start fine and can drive it x amount of miles but when I shut it off it may not start. The battery is too weak. I put a newer battery in it. I checked for drains none. I checked alternator at idle no accessories running 13.58 with headlights,radio and air on full blast 12.38. The battery terminals are clean. When I drive, it sometimes jumps around kind of quickly from 1/4 to lil over 1/2. Sorry so much info any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can start it cold and the alternator gets very hot within 2 mins.

Took off alternator and found a hot spot or possibly a short.

Just cuz a alternator test good with a multi meter doesn't always mean its good. There are several other things inside of it that can be bad. Telling by those piks of that hotspot and your symptoms, that thing is fried man. Get yourself a new alternator and start driving the snake again.

Changed alternator, belt tensioner and belt.

The alternator fried on my '03. I went the cheap route and had it rebuilt. Fried again in less than a year while on vacation. Went with a PA Performance 135 amp. Great piece with a lifetime warranty.

I started to get a PA but I didn't want to wait. Advanced Auto parts had it overnighted for free. On American Muscle it said for warranty to be valid you had to purchase the performance alternator cable. Although if I have any more trouble I will. Why they changed the alternator for the 99-01 cobras I don't know.
